Mix-d:  Walsall. Youth Conference.

We had our first conference in Walsall on 1st July 2009.

This was a new collabration between Walsall Children’s Services and Multiple Heritage Project. A look at mixed-race identity. The conference invited 50 mixed-race students to talk about their lived experience, develop individual school action plans and make recommendations for future policy makers.

Students from the following schools attended the event: Shelfield, Barr Beacon, Willenhall, Aldridge and St Thomas More.

wen i first went to the conference in manchester i was abit worried about what we would be doing and in the end i knew an understanding of what we did but now that im gonna be a falicitator i feel like im giving something back which is good

We are excitied to become facilitators because its rare opportunity and it will be a good experience, but were also a little nervous. Hopefully we will overcome this on the day, were really proud to be involved and should be a fun day (:
